Vortex Agitator

The innovative Vortex Agitator combines rugged construction, a high-efficiency impeller, unique seals and solid shafting for unprecedented performance. It's uniquely designed for easy access. Removable blades and an easily released stuffing box simplify maintenance. It comes in a wide range of sizes to meet your individual needs.

The Vortex Agitator has been designed to provide high efficiency with low maintenance demands. It was designed by GL&V IMPCO/JONES specifically for the pulp and paper industry. It is capable of providing proper agitation for a wide variety of furnishes; from mechanical to specialty grades.

The agitator is manufactured with a cast one-piece housing, and completely pre-assembled and aligned at our factory for easy installation. This provides for simple "level and bolt in" installation, yet they still provide all the maintenance simplicity of an inboard split pillow block. 

The Vortex Agitator features the High Efficiency Profile hydrofoil impeller, which circulates stock with less torque than comparable units. The high solidity design of the impeller provides optimum performance in pulp slurries. The removable blades allow easy accessibility through a 24” manhole.

The stuffing box or split mechanical seal is continuously protected by a precision engineered, spring loaded shut off device. This allows the primary seal to be changed at any time. In fact, the complete stuffing box can be released for ease of access.

All split inboard bearings have a minimum B10 life of 100,000 hours and are protected by grease-purged split double lip seals. The outboard bearings have a B10 life of over 300,000 hours. In addition, the agitator features a solid, single-diameter, stainless steel shafting from the outboard bearing to the impeller for maximum durability and dependability.

A variety of seals are available for the Vortex Agitator. The standard is a detachable stuffing box with a nickel/chrome/boron coated stainless steel sleeve. The stuffing box includes an integrated drip pan so all seal leakage can be controlled. Alternately, a wide variety of split mechanical seals are available.

The agitator also utilizes the OmniDrive™ system, which is common to several of the GL&V product lines. This allows for compatibility of spare parts between equipment. We maintain a large inventory of these spare parts, ready for quick delivery whenever needed.
