Deaeration

Deaeration refers to removal of air. Air in the stock can have negative effects on downstream equipment. There are 3 air types found in pulp and paper mills and these are: free, bounded and dissolved air. Each air type can cause different problems in the process, and if problems such as evidence of slime deposition, poor hydraulic capacity, evidence of sheet holes, poor sheet formation/drainage rates or poor wet strength, it is time to look at deaeration.
