EWT™ Low-head filters provide effective removal of suspended solids in tertiary wastewater treatment applications where limited available differential head makes conventional deep-bed filters impractical, uneconomical, or impracticable. Our filters feature an end-discharge basin design with a common plenum underdrain. The underdrain system is comprised of pultruded FRP partition plates, molded ABS media support panels and rugged molded ABS nozzles. All components are corrosion-resistant and assemble quickly for easy installation. Our filters are dual-media compatible and can accommodate bed depths of up to 24 inches. Backwashing is accomplished with a single pump, indexing hood system that isolates and cleans each cell in turn. Air-scour media cleaning is an available option. Two hood transport systems are available. One is a conventional rail-mounted traveling bridge that spans the filter basin and carries the hood from above. The other is a pneumatically-actuated tractor that propels the hood along a guide rail mounted directly atop the cell partition plates, without the need for a bridge. Both arrangements feature PLC control systems for fully automated operation. We can build low-head filters in concrete tanks of 6, 9, 12.5 and 16-foot widths, and lengths as required. Pre-fabricated steel tank filters are available in widths to 11 feet and lengths to 50 feet. Features and Benefits
