Spiral Sieve NSI - Fine-screening of waste-water
After launching the NOGGERATH continuous band Screen and Rotary Drum Screens suitable for larger clarification plants and successfully introducing its series of Spiral Sieves in 1988, NOGGERATH has installed these very well-priced and robust Spiral Sieves into a variety of smaller and middle-sized clarification plants. The Spiral Sieves NSI offer remarkable operational advantages:
Fine screening of wastewater has become a standard unit operation in both small and medium sewage treatment plants. The NSI unit is very suited to these applications and have also proved their worth in the screening of faecal matter, sludge and also scum. Through fine screening of non-degradable floating matter wastewater treatment processes are improved.
Applications
Municipal
• Pre-treatment
• Primary treatment in lieu of sedimentation
• Sludge screening - waste activated
• Scum screening
• Ocean outfall
• Stormwater management (CSO & SSO)
• Pulp and Paper industry
• Wood room effluent
• Chip pile run-off water
• Pressure screen rejects
• U-Drains
• Mill effluent (coarse)
• Mill effluent (line)
Industrial
• Fast food processing - all process effluent
• Winery - all process effluent
• Seafood and fish processing - total plant effluent, process water
• Meat processing / abattoirs - all process effluent
• Sugar / mill refining - all process effluent
• Machining - all process effluent
• Oil recycling - all process effluent
• Fruit and vegetable processing - all process effluent, process water recycle
• Citrus processing - all process effluent
• Petrochemical - all process effluent, PVC bead recovery
• Rendering - all process effluent, truck drainage
• Textile - all process effluent
Operating Principle
The NSI screen is installed into the inlet flow channel. Flows are allowed to pass through the submerged perforated plate of the screen. The perforated plate is available in varying dimensions. Debris retained against the surface of the perforated screen are removed by the inclined screw mechanism, which conveys the solid up through the screen.
During the conveyance, screenings can be washed and compacted to produce a reasonably dry and clean discharge
Advantages
• Fine screening, washing, transporting, compacting and dewatering in a single unit.
• Simple retrofit, space-efficient.
• Hygienic enclosed casing consisting wholly of high-grade steel.
• Clogging and pigtailing is prevented by the shaftless, thick-walled spiral.
• Screening gaps of 1 to 6 mm.
• Direct fine-screening into the drain or optionally into a container.
• Indoor or outdoor installation
• Re-adjustable sieve basket
