GL&V open cylinder gravity deckers are used in dewatering pulp, for example, in broke thickening or recycle pulp thickening. The GDX is a slusher type thickener based on cocurrent flow, with the drum rotating in the direction of pulp flow. Typical feed consistencies are 0.5% to 2.5%, with discharge consistencies 4% to 5%. The drum is a sturdy design with perforated shell supported by spokes and rings, and a simple efficient seal between the drum end and vat for reduced maintenance requirements.
