The DLR tank is used when only partial deaeration is needed and is used together with a deaerating hydrocyclone such as the Celleco Cleanpac 700LD or Albia 500DLR. As with a Cleanvac deaeration system, the DLR tank also uses a vacuum pump to aid in the removal of the air.
Deaeration is used when problems such as:
- Evidence of slime deposition
- Poor hydraulic stability
- Evidence of sheet holes
- Poor sheet formation/drainage rates
- Poor wet strength
The level of deaeration depends on the level of problems as well as the paper machine speed. As a rule of thumb, if the paper machine speed is less then 2000 fpm or 800 m/min and there is evidence of above problems, a DLR tank just might be the solution you are looking for.
