BTF™ Hydraulic Headbox with BTF Dilution Profiling

The GL&V BTF Modular Hydraulic Headbox System is designed to optimize the performance of virtually all fourdrinier applications, from low speed to high speed, light weight to heavy weight, single-ply to multi-ply, coated and uncoated. The BTF Hydraulic Headbox is without parallel in its ability to develop tensile ratio, fiber orientation, and sheet formation, with exceptional performance on all grades. Our optional Lamella-equipped nozzle designs will virtually eliminate tiger stripes, resulting in excellent sheet surface appearance, and the added adjustability provided by our available edge flow control valves can be used to help optimize TSO (Tensile Stiffness Orientation) profiles for all flow conditions. The BTF Headbox nozzle is designed to produce a wide range of TSI (Tensile Stiffness Index) MD:CD ratios, from very high to very low, allowing for optimization of sheet strength properties.

The BTF Dilution Control System, exclusive from GL&V, employs high-performance state-of-the-art dilution profiling technology that provides the highest level of CD 2-Sigma Dry Weight Profile Control, and contributes to improved fiber orientation profiles, especially on hydraulic headbox applications. Reduced variability in CD weight distribution translates into reduced sheet caliper variation, which can provide reduced moisture variability. These changes can result in significant energy savings through more efficient pressing and better face contact through the dryer sections while reducing or eliminating sheet rewetting, and can positively affect coating operations. BTF Dilution Profiling (Consistency Profiling) helps to improve sheet quality and machine productivity with as little as 10% dilution water. The natural stock delivery from the BTF Radial Distributor System improves sheet edges and increases usable sheet width when compared to conventional tapered header technology. The BTF also acts as one of the most efficient and effective pulsation dampening devices available. The flow turn down ratio of the BTF Distributor is unmatched by any other flow spreading technology, thereby providing new and existing paper machines with substantial flexibility in their grade mix.

The BTF Dilution Control Module provides substantial improvements in CD weight control, and helps to improve fiber orientation profiles (TSO). Tensile ratio profiles (TSI) as well as sheet formation is further enhanced when employed with a full BTF Headbox System - Air Pad Rectifier Roll or Hydraulic. These extremely versatile & effective systems consist of three separate modules, each of which bring significant performance enhancement over conventional headbox technologies. The BTF modules can even be installed separately to provide an inexpensive, phased approach to achieving world class performance.
