For most cold climate locations. An effective method of recovering (low grade) heat from the paper machine hood system which can lead to considerable savings.
By installing heat recovery coils in paper machine hood exhausts, then pumping a mixture of water and glycol through these coils, the water glycol solution picks up heat from the hood and recirculates to the mill air make-up units. This then heats the building air with the hot water glycol mixture.
The pumping station has a steam heat exchanger, which can supplement the heated water/glycol mixture, and on maintenance days, when the paper machine is stopped, the building can be heated independently.
