The KanEng Calender Roll cooling system is an effective, low cost method of cooling "hot spots" on Calender Rolls.
This system consists of: • Cooling coil (water to air) • HP blower system (45" H2O) Pressure • Inlet filter • Damper
These are all assembled and factory-tested on a skid base. In most applications, simply using mill water to cool air is sometimes enough if it is cool enough (60 °F). In hotter climates, the addition of an air-cooled chiller is advisable. This air is passed through a cross machine plenum with a cylinder-operated nozzle on 4" centers across the roll face.
The plenum nozzles can be actuated by: • Pneumatic switches • Electrical switches • Solenoid-operated switch capable of interfacing with Measurex or D.C.S. System
The existing mill cross machine scanner shows a sheet caliper profile which will indicate any "hot spots". The pneumatic nozzles in the area can be opened to direct cool air, and thus reducing the localized roll diameter, then changing the sheet profile
